This gal has loads of good looking recipes. I thought I would like to try this one and didn't want to loose her recipe. This is the recipe for her Gourmet French Toast. It's one of those recipes where you prepare the night before and then bake the next morning. Love it! She even shows how she made her berry sauce. Yummy....!
While you are there at her blog, read about how her finance proposed to her on Barkerella's blog! It made me tear up :o)
I love this idea for taking snacks to church or shopping in order to help keep kids occupied. This mother posted about it here. Isn't she smart?! I love the name she gave it "Sunday Snack Bar"!
Here is what she said -
Buy a craft container from walmart/joanns, etc ($1-3). You can also buy small plastic fishing tackle boxes from your local hardware store. Fill each empty space with small finger foods for your child (age appropriate of course)
*This really helps my two year old quiet down in church. He loves the variety of snacks to choose from. Life saver...seriously!
*My container is actually "Child proof" so he can't get into it all by himself. It's also nice because it won't spill in his diaper bag. You just need to push in the button on the side while opening the container.
Okay - just one more post for tonight..... These look delish! This mom made these herself! She posted a link to here for this tutorial. Wow - talented women!
Okay - I like whole wheat bread and I even enjoy making it. But my family stills enjoys store bought bread (I still only buy whole wheat bread from the store!). This gal has a recipe for whole wheat bread that tastes like homemade she says. I am going to try this one out. It has some interesting ingredients in it....vinegar and potato flakes?? I can smell that fresh baked bread already :o)
I love my crockpot and I love lasagna....but I never thought of putting the two together! Here is how this young lady did it. Will have to give this one a try.
My friend Kristen posted about her getting her first things for free! I'm so proud of her :o) My daughters have couponed in the past and have done well also. I'm not so good at it :o( But Kristen posted about this blog where she lists deals. Some of them are not in our area, but some you can use anywhere.
PS - I saw Kristen's pettiskirt today and it is just as cute and fluffy in person as it is on her blog! Just thought you'd like to know ;o) (I'm still looking locally for an outlet for the nylon chiffon. If anyone knows of one here in Maryland let me know)
UPDATE
I have found a couple more blogs for couponing and a coupon system that is cheap. This gal blogs about Couponing but shows not only her little bounties and what she saved, but she has women from across the country contribute. I have really enjoyed reading her blog and then she has links to this blog done some friends who are really into self-reliant living and they have all kinds of tools to help simplify things. These are all young moms with young families making it work for them and willing to share what they are learning. I LOVE their Excel spreadsheet here for the 3 month supply of meals. In these trying and uncertain times, it is such a peaceful feeling to have the knowledge that you are prepared to feed your family in case of a job lose or any myriad of reasons. Is nice to be self reliant and to know that your family won't go hungry. She has a tutorial on how to use her spreadsheet for her 3 month supply of meals.
My family loves krispy treats....they are so quick and easy too. These little gems are a great idea. Why is it that something always looks better when someone else does it?? It always tastes better too for some reason. She gives great directions and pictures :o)
I had to edit this post with some more of her fabulous ideas!
I lOVE cinnamon bears. Someone told me I had to try chocolate covered cinnamon bears and I thought they were crazy! But oh my!.....I was the crazy one....they are THE best! So here is a hot little valentine for you!
Felt Food! I've been interested in Felt lately for some odd reason and this one caught my eye. I never would have thought of felt food for kids and this is definitely food for thought (pun intended!). With 5 grand-daughters so far, this might come in handy! Way cute!
I am having WAY too much fun with this blog....too many fun, cute things to make and do and so little time!
Okay - check this out.....I have seen something like this done before, but this was a little different so I thought you would enjoy it too! Will have to add these to my next shopping list! She gives her instructions here. She's a quilter also, so they must be good! Enjoy!
Now, THIS is the way to give Christmas cookies! Let them do the baking :o) It's so cute though that I don't think they would mind the baking! She includes a directions.
Here is a cool recipe from Little Birdie Secrets for peppermint marshmallows. These look sooo yummy for hot chocolate. People will think you are clever when you serve these little goodies!
Gordon and I have been called boring....but boring is nice! We enjoy being home with family and friends or by ourselves. He's a beekeeper and I am a quilter. We love burgers, hot dogs, and onions on the grill. We love eating outside on our deck watching the birds and deer. We don't like the deer snacking in our garden! Oh, and we don't like weeds!
